This 1992 Porsche 911 America Roadster is one of 250 examples built during a two-year production run to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 356 America Roadster. It is powered by a 3.6-liter flat-six linked with a G50 five-speed manual transaxle and an optional limited-slip differential, and it was specified in black over Light Gray partial leather with black accents. Equipment includes 17×8″ and 17×9.5″ Cup alloy wheels, Max Moritz lowering springs, a black soft top, a tonneau cover, a tea-tray spoiler, power-adjustable front seats, cruise control, air conditioning, and an Alpine radio linked with Canton speakers and an aftermarket amplifier.
The America Roadster was a widebody variant of the 964 cabriolet, and this example is finished in Black (L700) with a black soft top and tonneau cover as well as fog lights and a single exhaust outlet. Paint meter readings are shown in the gallery below. A tea-tray rear spoiler has been installed, and the soft-top power-operation mechanism has been disconnected. A factory rear decklid is included in the sale.
The 17″ Cup alloy wheels measure 8″ wide up front and 9.5″ in width out back, and they are mounted with an older set of Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The car shared braking components with the contemporary Turbo model, and it has been fitted with Max Moritz lowering springs.
The cabin was specified in Light Grey partial leather with a black dashboard and floor mats, and the seats have supple leather inserts. Amenities include fully power-adjustable front seats, air conditioning, cruise control, an Alpine CD stereo, and a Canton speaker system as well as an aftermarket amplifier mounted beneath the front-right seat.
The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation consisting of a central tachometer with a 6,800-rpm redline flanked by a 180-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges for oil temperature, oil pressure, oil level, and fuel level.
The 3.6-liter flat-six was factory rated at 247 horsepower and 228 lb-ft of torque. The battery has been replaced within the last five years.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a G50 five-speed manual transaxle. The clutch was replaced and a single-mass flywheel was installed in August 1997.
