This 1952 GMC 250 is said to have been used by the Halem Hazzouri Banana Company of Scranton, Pennsylvania from the time it was new until 1957, at which time it was stored at a company facility. The seller acquired the truck in 2018, and subsequent work included rebuilds of the carburetor, water pump, and generator, rewiring of the electrical system, refinishing the wheels, repair of the canvas roof, and replacement of the filters, wheel bearings, tires, and trim and brake components. The vehicle is finished in yellow and green with period company graphics and powered by a 228ci inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and features include 18″ wheels with a dually rear axle, drum brakes, and an enclosed tin-sheathed and insulated wooden cargo box.
The single cab is finished in yellow paint with black running boards and company information hand-painted onto both doors. The enclosed green cargo box is adorned with hand-painted Halem Hazzouri graphics.
The truck rides on a 137″ wheelbase with a 19′ overall length and a 107″ overall height. The truck features replacement steel wheels that were refinished in black during current ownership, and 7.00-18 Coker Tire-sourced reproduction Firestone tires were fitted up front and for the dually setup out back. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums, and the system was serviced with a replacement master cylinder, lines and fittings, hardware, wheel cylinders, and all wheel bearings.
The interior features worn upholstery for the bench seat as well as matching door cards and a replacement rubber floor mat. A GMC-branded cabin heater is housed in the passenger-side footwell, an aftermarket turn signal switch is mounted to the steering column, and a battery disconnect switch mounted on the passenger side firewall.
Interior pdates by the seller are said to include replacement of the ignition and glovebox hardware. Instrumentation includes a 90-mph speedometer and a multi-function gauge for fuel level, amperes, temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 70k miles.
The rear cargo area is aLessed via swing-out rear doors and features a wood floor, an overhead light, and a pair of period company-branded banana storage crates. The cargo box is 110″ x 112″ and features a 36 x 65″ opening.
Power is supplied by a 228ci straight-six featuring a single downdraft carburetor topped by an oil-bath air filter. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. Servicing by the seller is said to have included rebuilds of the carburetor, water pump, and generator as well as replacement of the radiator, hoses, belts, spark plugs, and ignition wires. Additional work included re-wiring the electrical system, installation of a battery cut off switch, and replacement of the choke and throttle cables.
